FAQ
Q. Do you ban any specific breeds from doggie daycare?
Yes, we do not allow American Staffordshire Terriers (Pit Bulls) or variations of that
breed in daycare. Additionally we reserve the right to refuse admittance to any animal
that we feel would be incompatible with our play group.
Q. Why does my dog need to be dropped off by noon?
Our boarding and daycare dogs start their day very early in the morning so by noon time
they are not playing as enthusiastically. So all our dogs need to arrive by noon so all
the dogs are on the same play schedule. Also, our dog clients get tired so they won't be
as receptive in the afternoon.
Q. Why am I charged for daycare if I pick my dog up after noon?
Our overnight rate is like a hotel's, check out is before noon. The boarding rate covers a
minimum of 24 hours and anything over that is considered a separate day.
Q. Can I bring my dog's own bed?
Yes, however, it may get ruined if you do. Some bedding gets ruined or soiled and we will
not keep it for you if it does get damaged.
Q. Are little dogs separate from the big dogs?
No, we separate our dogs by play style. We typically have a group that likes to play hard all
day and a group that is mellow and easy going.
Q. Will you take my dog to his own vet if need be?
Typically we use Leach Animal Hospital for all our veterinary needs. We do bring your vet's
information in case our vet needs to speak with yours.
Q. Why don't you provide in home pick up?
We find that if we did offer in home shuttle service your dog would spend more time commuting
and less time playing.
Q. If I sign up for a club and don't use all the days can I carry them over to the next month?
No, all club membership are only good for that calendar month. In order to get the savings we
require that all the days be used during that month.
Q. Can you give my dog his medication?
Yes, we do administer any medications your dog may need. There may be additional charges for the
dispensing of medications.
Q. My plane lands at 7:30 p.m. can I come from the airport and get my dog?
No, our pickup time is by 6:30 p.m. during the week, 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
These times are not flexible, our daycare staff is not authorized to release any dogs that are boarding
with us even if the owner shows up to get their dog.
Screening Process
Potential Human Clients
So Doggone Good clients will be the most discriminating dog owners in the area. Our clients will
include business professionals with a need for proper care while they work or travel and dog lovers
that want a well socialized and exercised family pet.
Potential Canine Clients
Our canine clients will pass a rigorous screening process. This process will insure that
the dogs meet our high standards of conduct and health. The following protocol will be followed
prior to dogs being admitted to So Doggone Good:
Vaccinations
- Rabies
- Distemper
- Bordatella
General Health
An exam will be performed evaluating the general health of the dog. This exam uses key indicators
such as eyes, nose, ears and coat to determine a healthy pet.
Spay / Neuter
All pets staying at So Doggone Good must be spayed or neutered by 8 months of age.
Social
The cornerstone of our screening process is the disposition test. Potential clients will fill out a
questionnaire detailing the dogs past behavior and experiences. The dog's demeanor will also be
observed. If the dog passes the initial disposition and demeanor testing, the staff will then continue
with a meeting with the potential client and their dog with another animal. There will be a small
group of dogs (1-3) that are available to be introduced to the new client. Based on all of the information
from both the potential client and the observations of the staff, the dog will either be rejected or
approved as a probationary client.
